The change in season has presented some challenging weather and currents but the rewards are there with plenty of big pelagics feeding both inshore and offshore, massive bonito, kingfish and big flathead!
Southwest Rocks
There are still loads of floodwater pouring out of the Macleay river which has made inshore fishing a little difficult. The cleaner offshore water has a mix bag on the chew with mahi mahi, blue marlin, yellowfin, spanish macs and wahoo. As usual at this time of year there are plenty of sharks lurking ready to steal your catch!

Offshore Sydney
The strong currents from the EAC have brought very warm water to Sydney and with it there have been decent numbers of yellowfin and blue marlin being caught. The FADS are still producing good numbers of mahi mahi

Sydney Harbour
Sydney Harbour is firing at the moment with kingfish, big flathead and some of the biggest bonito seen in decades. Live baits have been the go-to bait however, the bigger yakkas have been producing the big bonito! They aren't shy of a big feed.

Sydney Harbour
Plenty of challenges last two weeks with wild weather and strong currents . The bait is constantly moving so be prepared to search for it . Kings and mahi are around in ok numbers but you’ll have to work for them.

Pittwater, Broken Bay and surrounds
A late arrival of larger Mack tuna and Watsons bonito has made for some fun surface action. Larger bonito are scattered about with the odd rat king following. Longtail tuna are a real possibility with two spotted this week although neither was within range and no feeding schools seen yet, rather, just individuals.
On the topic of longtail - Fishing Station team member, Billie found himself locking horns with a solid longtail going for snapper!

Rock and Beach
Fishing has had mixed results. Sizeable mac tuna, bonito around off the ocean rocks. Normally sight casting the schools working on the surface is the norm. But 'blind casting' has produced good results for schools down deeper. The Saltiga Over There 130S working great. The surf beaches have good numbers of whiting, bream and some tarwhine as well. Beach worms and pippies the gun baits.
A reminder - Always check the weather report before fishing the ocean rocks and stay safe. All beaches in the Northern Beaches are required to wear a lifejacket when fishing.
